Time Pieces Silent Auction at Orillia Museum of Art and History, 2024

The Orillia Museum of Art and History celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and to honour this and raise funds they are hosting a silent auction. The “Time Pieces Silent Auction” is comprised of art pieces created by local artists that interpret their iconic clock tower.

I have created a relief print for this auction, showing the face of the clock encased in vines. I wanted to portray how time creeps by rather sneakily, like how a vine grows right before your eyes without you noticing, and that there is always simultaneous growth and decay. The clock face is based off of the actual clock face of OMAH, using the same Roman Numerals and hands, and appears with the time approaching midnight. For me this held the significance of that feeling of optimism a new day can hold, and a fresh start.

Rather than framing the piece, it is hand stitched onto a board which can be wall mounted, making it look like the print floats on the wall.

This print and other pieces will be displayed at Charles Pachter & Keith Lem’s MOFO Studio in Orillia, on Friday September 20th, from 5-8pm. If you are interested in putting in a bid for this piece I would advise you to contact OMAH to get a ticket.

The event will feature live music by Chris Robinson, beverages by Couchiching Brewery, catering by Krew Catering Co., and an opportunity to win a $3000 landscaping package from Parklane Landscapes.
